Geography Study Tour - 12th May 2012

The school programs to educating students through various means and strategies and follow adage of “Learn through senses” and for that matter the school had the Class VIII A students go on a study tour to the Kurichu Hydro Project initiated by Mr Cheku Wangdi, Geography teacher. The tour was a success with much learning taking place and precisely made enquiries of the subject matter through already prepared questions from the students to the Authorities of Kurichu Hydro Project Corporation. Students expressed it as educational and enjoyable too.

The West Meets the East - 11th May 2012

A group of American students visited our school for basketball awareness campaign for the young, energetic and enthusiastic youth of our school. Basketball players for both boys and girls from Yadi Middle Secondary School also joined our School for coaching. This was organized by BOC to enhance and make the students aware of the methods and style one can initiate into playing basketball. It was a very good exposure for the students and they enjoyed thoroughly.

Choeshed-Layrim - 5th May 2012

Choeshed-Layrim (Religious discourse) was organized by Cultural Club of the school on 5th May in which the Lam Neten of Monggar Dratshang was invited for the discourse. Students from class V-VIII and all the staff members participated in the program. The discourse basically revolved around “DHUG NGA” the five negative elements in human and the ways of eradicating those elements to have a desired livelihood. The importance of ‘Law of Cause and Effect’ was also highlighted. The reverend explained about the 4 basic principles needed to be discarded;

  1. no appreciation to god,
  2. no love for country,
  3. no respect to teachers and parents and
  4. abusing harmful substances.

The discourse was for about two and half hours and it was very beneficial and befitting to the need of today for the youth. The school extends the heartfelt gratitude to honourable Lam Neten for his valuable presence and sharing his wisdom to inspire our students, in spite of his busy schedule.

Best Student of the Month’ of April

The selection of the beat student of the month was held on 27th of April. Out of 15 nominees, one student from each class from IV to VIII Master Sacha Dorji of class VIIIB was elected the Best Student of the month. Prior to the election the nominees did a brief introduction and a campaign followed by the casting of vote by the teachers and the School Captains and House captains. After he was elected the Best Student of the month Sacha Dorji assured that he would continue to be the role model to the other students. Congratulations!! Sacha Dorji.

School Annual Marathon

The school Annual Marathon was organized on 28th of April. The student from Class IV and above participated and was very exciting. The distance to be covered were10.5km and 8.5km for boys and girls respectively. More than 300 students participated in the event. Master Kinley Phuntsho of class 8B, Khorlo House was the winner for boys and Miss Pema Zangmo of class VIA, Bumpa House was the winner for girls. The winners were awarded cash prize and certificates till 5th position. The runners who could make it within 25 minutes after the first runner completed were awarded points for their respective Houses and were awarded certificates. The Mongar Gup graced the occasion and awarded the prizes and certificates to the winners.

Teachers’ Day and Sherig Century Celebration

May 2nd was a great day for the students and the teaching feternity as it was Birth anniversary of our beloved 3rd Druk Gyalpo Jigme Dorji Wangchuck observed as Teachers’ Day and the launch of Sherig Century, 100 years of modern education in our country. It was a day to be proud of and rejoice. It was yet a great day for Mongar LSS because the school launched the school’s website and produced the first ever Newsletter on that day to commemorate the joyous and momentous occasion. Dasho Dzongrab of Mongar Dzongkhag Administration graced the occasion and l did the honour of launching the school’s website. The students offered tashi khadars, ceremonial scarf to the teachers with cake cutting ceremony. Teachers were served with refreshment and entertained with songs and dances. The whole program was coordinated by the Captains.

Badza Guru Dungdrup at Mongar

Badza Guru Dungdrup was held at Mongar with effect from 15th to 24th of April at Public ground. The students of classes 6, 7, 8 and teachers from our school also participated in the recitation in turns. His Holiness Je Khenpo conducted the oral transmission and blessed the devotees gathered for the recitation of Badza Guru on 22nd of April.

Studies for Teachers

Two teachers of our school are selected to undergo Masters Degree in India, Tandin Wangchuk for Masters in History and Galley Dhendup for Masters in Special Education. The MLSS family with pleasure congratulates both of them and wishes and prays for success in their endeavor and may fulfill their aspirations.

5th National Book Fair

5th National Book Fair was held in our school Football ground. The National Book Fair was inaugurated by Dasho Dzongrab on 16th of April and it was held till 20th of April. This Book Fair was organized especially for eastern six Dzongkhags. The Principals and teachers from the different schools in the eastern Dzongkhags rushed for books for their respective school library. Many students and parents too did not fail in availing the opportunity of buying books of their interest as there is no proper book shop in the Dzongkhag.
